Ellis Public Library

Visit a place that feeds the brain with a wide array of reading materials, classes and so much more. The Ellis Public Library was established in 1937 and has been at its present location since 1983.

The library houses approximately 20,000 titles and has access to two digital content data bases: Hoopla and Sunflower E Library. Both are available to Ellis Public Library patrons through the use of their library card.

In addition to traditional library services, Ellis Public Library offers a Maker Space for young minds to use their creative imaginations to make and invent through the use of 3D printers, CAD, Robotics and coding for microprocessors. Individual instruction can be set up with the Library Director.

Ellis Public Library offers research resources through digitalized local newspapers dating back to the late 1800s, and special collections of historical non-circulating material. Throughout the year, the library offers special events such as Rock-N-Chalk, Movie Under the Stars and Astronomy Night, in addition to other annual programs such as Story Hour and Summer reading. The library is a primary partner in the annual Polar Express night in December. The library can also provide a space for special occasions and get togethers through the rental of its Community Room.

A link to promoting the Ellis business community and interests of business, the Ellis Alliance Building is one of the most visited offices in Ellis. Its mission is success through cooperation. The Alliance Director assists in business for the Ellis Chamber of Commerce, the Community Foundation of Ellis, and the Ellis Industrial Development Corporation from the one store front. Everyone cooperatively works together for the betterment of the community. General community inquiries are answered from this building daily. Current chamber and community events are posted on the electronic message board located in front of the Railroad Museum for community awareness. 

The Alliance building has a public meeting room that can be rented for a small fee.

Ellis Recreation Commission

The mission of the Ellis Recreation Commission is to promote a safe and fun environment that promotes sportsmanship and fitness for the well-being of our community. Stop by their office at 1204 Washington or check online at www.ellisrec.org for athletic, educational, leisure and exercise programs that are available for youth, adults and senior citizens.

Individuals interested in becoming involved in their community through volunteer work have numerous options with the ERC. Many programs need coaches, scorekeepers, game officials, help with supervision, etc. The benefits are endless.

The Ellis Recreation Commission building has two great meeting rooms available for rental for your special occasion.

 

Educational Opportunities Abound in Ellis

Our community offers private and public learning options for kindergarten through sixth grade. Ellis Junior High transitions the children from both the private and public grade schools into one learning facility where the classes will stay together through high school graduation.
